The End of Summer

Sunbathers, love and loss, new weather, sharks, surfers and suntans.

I wanted to explore a set of paintings that reflected more of my surroundings and try and make sense of where I live in Perth, Western Australia. I’m not a particularly beachy person, but living in Perth, you realise how important the beach is for most people. The beach and the Australian summer slightly scare me. There is something nerve wracking and forbidding about an expanse of burning hot sand, a warming planet and an ocean full of hungry sharks.
